We are seeing StarLink entering schools, which is great, but to date we see just the StarLink unit (often router placed on a desk or filing cabinet) and without any networking - so supplies only the admin area. Its Time is investing considerably to make the installation an effective education tool across the school precinct - by using gold standard Ubiquiti network gateway and access points creating a mesh system to internet into the classrooms. We also house the equipment in kid and wasp proof cabinets so it is protected and lasts. Coupled with the smart TVs and laptops we deliver, it's a major upgrade in the schools' education capacity.
There is always something about those first night videos when the system is turned on that creates a smile - it’s a marker of the switch to proper power and the life changes that brings.
A priority of Its Time is that all waste is removed from the site, back to the main land for appropriate disposal or recycling if possible. Sadly remote islands are accumulating all sorts of waste that they find difficult dispose of - it needs to be a priority of all contractors to, as best possible, mitigate this build up of waste.
